Every year, ever since they were very little, Sophie and Wind spent part of the winter in the mountains.

Sophie’s parents had a small place right in the middle of an alpine village. From the door, you could ski straight out to the lifts, take the little bus down the valley, or spend the whole evening playing in the snow. They built snow forts with secret tunnels. They built snowmen with pinecone noses. They had snowball fights until it was too dark to see who was winning.
