Wind flew down the uncharted slope, loosely following the tracks.

He was going fast. Then he was going very fast. The snow was perfect, and he wasn’t thinking about anything at all.

He was flying.

Then he saw it. A gap straight across the slope. Rocks under thin snow at the edges. Nothing in the middle.

A crevasse.

He was much too fast to stop.

So he did the only thing left.

He made one sharp turn, aiming at the thinly covered rocks on the other side, and jumped.
